Dear Stranger, You're Allowed to Be Proud

Dear Stranger,

You're allowed to be proud of yourself.

I don't know why this feels like a radical thing to say, but I think it does for a lot of us. We've gotten very good at minimizing. At "oh, it's not that big a deal." At deflecting the compliment before it lands. At moving on to the next goal before we've let ourselves feel anything about the last one.

But progress counts. Even when no one else sees it. Even when it doesn't look impressive from the outside. Even when you're the only one who understands what it cost you to get here.

You made it through something hard. That is worth something. Let yourself feel that.

I think the practice of acknowledging your own progress, quietly, privately, without needing it validated by anyone, is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. It teaches you that you are a fair witness to your own effort. It builds the kind of self-trust that doesn't collapse when the external approval runs dry.

You don't need to announce it. You don't need anyone else to agree. You can simply sit for a moment with what you've done and let it be enough.

You worked for it. You showed up when it was hard. You got here.

Be proud. You've earned it.

- With Love, Aj✨
